The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/17/2013 Kevin John Murphy, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, died peacefully the evening of July 28, 2013, at the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center In Salt Lake City, Utah. His passing is mourned and his loss felt deeply by his family; his brothers and sisters Muriel, Philip, Robert, Barbara, Monica, Patricia. Mary, Diana, Elizabeth and Raymond; their spouses, his many nieces and nephews, and his friends and neighbors in Show Low; where he has resided since 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eleanor Murphy, his sister Deborah and his brothers James and Stephen. He will be buried with full military honors, with a memorial service to be held at a future date. Kevin was born Nov. 18, 1956, in Phoenix. He attended Robert E. Simpson Elementary School and West Phoenix High School, after which he served in the United States Navy. He was by profession a printer and worked in that capacity for many years until his early retirement in 2000. Kevin was a thoughtful, contemplative and quiet man by nature and found joy in simple pleasures; nature, reading, music and the beautiful lakes and mountains of northeastern Arizona. In the final days of his life, Kevin received exemplary and compassionate care from the doctors, nurses and staff of the VA hospitals of Phoenix and Salt Lake City, Utah.
