PORTER, Eugene (Darrell)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, September 18, 2013 Eugene (Darrell) Porter Darrell Porter, 48, passed away Sept. 13, 2013, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born on May 1, 1965, in Prescott. He was raised in Gilmer, Texas, and graduated from Gilmer High School in 1983. He returned to Prescott in 1994 and shortly after began working for the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe, where he met Juanita. They were married in 2001. He was employed with the tribe for the next 18 years. Darrell was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He considered them "America's Team." He enjoyed playing softball and weekend yard sales. He took pride in watching and helping Ebony and Ean, his twins, play sports and grow up. Most of all he enjoyed working and helping others. He had a huge heart. He loved being with friends and family and he didn't consider anybody a stranger. He had many, many friends. Darrell is survived by his wife Juanita of Prescott; twin children Ebony and Ean of Prescott; daughter Brittany of Gilmer; son Daniel of Gilmer; mother Bonnie Porter of Gilmer; best friend and father Dale and stepmother Pearl Porter of Prescott; and sister Cynthia of Gilmer. Darrell is also survived by his stepchildren, Tony (Louella) Frazier of Prescott and Samantha (Brandon) Hammerstad of Prescott. Darrell had five grandchildren that called him "Papa D" and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20, 2013, at the Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott. The services are on Sept. 21, 2013, also at Heritage Memory Mortuary.
