DODDS, Robert T.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday September 1, 2013 Robert was born August 19th, 1926 in Bisbee, Arizona. He was the son of Clara Pierson Dodd and Shaw Dodd of Bisbee. He attended grade school and high school in Bisbee and Douglas. He enlisted in the U S Army October 17th, 1944. He was assigned to the Army Air Corp where he served in communications until his discharge on July 28, 1945. After his discharge from the Army, Robert enrolled at Arizona State College (ASU)where he graduated with Bachelor's degree in 1951. While in college he enrolled in the Air Force R.O.T.C. where he received a commission to Second Lieutenant. While serving in the Air Force active reserve unit at Luke AFB, Robert was promoted twice obtaining the rank of Captain. He served a total of 21 years combining his Army Air Corps and Air Force reserve time. On February 29th, 1954 Robert married Hildreth Wylie. The couple had four children, making their in Phoenix. Robert worked as a chemist at Producers Cotton Oil Company until changing careers in 1968 and moving to Superior, Arizona where he taught high school and coached athletics until his retirement. Robert was active in several fraternal organizations. He was as a Master Mason as a member of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge in Douglas, AZ. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Rainbow Gerls advisor and an Elks member. Robert left this earth to be with the Lord on August 24th, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Hildreth of 59 years and four children, Muriel Kremb, Margaret Gray, Mary Palmer and William Dodds, as well as six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services are pending at this time.
