The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/20/2013 Riqua JoAn Haws, 82, longtime resident of Eagar, died Sept. 16, 2013, in Eagar. JoAn was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Willcox, the daughter of Victor and Lea Shaver. She taught school for 55 years before retiring in 2010. Photography was her love; teaching students was her life. In her later years, she started to do genealogy. JoAn loved to travel to foreign places. She loved watching sports. She was involved in Beta Sigma Phi and the Republican Party. She is survived by her brothers Robert Lee Shaver and Lee Alan Shaver; and other family members, friends and students who love her dearly and will sorely miss her. JoAn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ronald “Sarge” Haws; sister Vicki Anne Lindsey and brother Ronald Clyde Shaver. A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Burnham Mortuary in Eagar. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Springerville Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Springerville, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
