Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Barbara Dene Meakin (April 15, 1944 - September 22, 2013) Barbara Dene Meakin, 69, passed away suddenly Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Flagstaff, Arizona after a battle with cancer. Barbara was born April 15, 1944 in Baird, TX to Weldon and Claudine (Deets) Corn. She married Donald Meakin May 22, 1965 in Las Vegas, NV. Barbara’s life consisted of helping anyone she could, not only family, but those in need as their professional insurance agent. She was born in TX, but raised in Ajo, AZ, proudly crowned “Queen” of Job’s Daughters of Ajo. She loved to play tennis with her “Margarita Girls”. She never tired of collecting antiques and belonged to several Antique Tractor Clubs of AZ. Her family and friends were always first in her life. Barbara retired with Don in Flagstaff, Az. She loved all her family and friends with her entire heart until it stopped beating the first day of Fall. She is survived by her husband, Donald, her sons and Daughters-in-law Gary and Christine, Glen and Trina, and by her grandchildren Rachelle, Randy, Cody, and Brooklyn. A family viewing will take place Friday, September 27, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ. Services will be held Saturday September 28, 2013 at 1:00 at Calvary Bible Church, 6555 Townsend-Winona Rd., Flagstaff Arizona, followed by procession to Citizens’ Cemetery.
