Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Wednesday, September 18, 2013 - Patricia Jean Vaughn, 81, left us much too soon on September 13, 2013 in Lake Havasu City. Patricia was born September 18, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., to Lyle and Esther Gardner. Patricia, also known as Pat to most of her friends, was one of the first 100 full-time residents of Lake Havasu City, having moved here from Westminster, Calif., in 1964 with her first husband Al and son Steve. Patricia worked for Holly Development Corporation, then she independently established Vaughn Realty and later became co-owner of the Lake Havasu-Century 21 Real Estate. She was an award winning horse breeder and proud owner of Havasu Arabians. Patricia was a member of the Arabian Horse Association since 1978. She loved showing her horses and volunteering every year at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. Patricia was happiest being active and enjoying the outdoors throughout her life; from square dancing, water-skiing, trail rides to worldwide traveling. She was a 4H leader where she shared her love and knowledge of animals. She was both an independent businesswoman and loving mom and grandmother who was so full of life. She was an inspiration to all and loved by family and friends. We will miss your sparkling blue eyes and sense of humor. Patricia is survived by her son, Steven Vaughn, and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Vaughn, of Menifee, Calif.; and three loving grandchildren, Steven Vaughn II of Long Beach, Calif., Stacia (Vaughn) Danford and James Danford of Murrieta, Calif. She also leaves behind her loving K9 companion Lady, who was always by her side. A Memorial for Patricia will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home Sept.21 at 3:00 p.m. To celebrate her love of horses, a donation can be made in her honor to Arizona Equine Rescue Organization Inc. www.azequinerescue.org Thoughts and condolences can be sent to Pat’s family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
