Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow, Winslow, Arizona Leroy Harms April 25, 1940 - September 13, 2013 Raymond Leroy Harms, 73, of Winslow passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2013 with his loving family at his side after a valiant three year battle of cancer. He was born on April 25, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas to Raymond A. Harms and Rogean Carrie Robbins. Leroy began working at the age of 18 for Santa Fe railroad starting as an operator then brakeman and conductor. After 44 years of notable service he retired as a conductor from BNSF on April 1, 2002. He was a member of the United Transportation Union Local #113 and a member of the Elks Lodge #536 of Winslow. Leroy was an avid bowler, he loved to play shuffleboard and he enjoyed calling the numbers for bingo for the Elks lodge. He loved to travel and see new places, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and always loved a good game of cards. Leroy is survived by his loving wife Jean of 53 years, his son Bill (Jill) of Alabaster, Alabama and daughter Debra (Joe Cordova) of Winslow, Arizona. Grandchildren Beth, Danielle, Christopher, Renee, John and Kaitlyn. Extended family Steve Cordova, Andy Cordova, Kathy Warren and their families. His brother-in-laws Tom Carrell of Bullhead City, Arizona and David Carrell (Beverlee) of Winslow, Arizona. Many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews along with a community of friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents and his loving grandson, Cody Joe Cordova. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his name to be made to the Elks Charities Foundation. A light luncheon will be served following the memorial service. Those who wish to bring a potluck item, please bring it at the time of the service.
