December 20, 1945 - September 7, 2013
Constance (Connie) Hunt Craig 67, passed peacefully from this world during the morning hours of Saturday, June 7, 2013. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 20, 1945 to Vernon B. Hunt and Wynogene Hovoden Hunt, and was reared in Atherton, California. Connie graduated from Menlo Park High School in 1963 and then attended Stephens Women’s College during 1963 - 1964.
After transferring to the U of A in 1965 she also worked in the “Head Start” program, and ultimately received a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 1971. She married the love of her life, William (Bill) G. Craig in 1971. They lived and worked together in San Francisco and Los Angeles, CA., before permanently relocating to Arizona in 1985.
Together with her husband, she owned an office building and Motel properties in Napa, and central California, and similarly was passionate about creating beautiful spaces using her skills in interior decorating. She loved to laugh and to dance, play tennis, garden and listen to smooth jazz. Connie was an adoring animal lover and developed a great kinship with the many pets she welcomed into her home over the years.
Her loving husband and two children: Alexis (Mark) Brausa and Carrington (Maria) Craig, and beloved grandchildren, Gavin, Tyler, Cassidy and Olivia survive Connie.
Her much-beloved sister, Diane van der Zee predeceased her in 2009.
A private memorial service will be held in Tucson and Coronado, California; the dates have yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.
