>> LOUISE D. HOLT <<
>> March 17, 1921 to September 5, 2013 <<
Louise was born on St. Patrick’s Day 1921 in Robinson, Illinois. She was the first child of Albert and Eunice Doak. She loved to sing and won numerous State and National singing contests. It was not surprising that she graduated from Eastern Illinois Teachers College with a degree in music. She passed up several opportunities to sing professionally but continued to sing in Church choirs for most of her adult life.
In 1943 she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Turner. After the birth of their son, Keith, they moved from Robinson to Fairway Hills, Maryland, so that Bill could complete his law school degree. In 1957 they moved to Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Together they were avid bridge players and loved to go in to Chicago to eat and take in musicals and other shows. Bill passed away in 1967.
In 1969 Louise met and married Bob Holt. Bob was a pilot for American Airlines. They moved to Newport Beach, California, in 1972 and started visiting Lake Havasu City soon thereafter. When Bob retired they moved to Lake Havasu permanently. Bob passed away in 1998. Louise continued to live in Lake Havasu City.
Louise died at her home from complications of surgery. She will be missed by her son, Keith; her daughter-in-law, Torrey; four grandchildren, Ryan, Bhakti, Sara and Eric; three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Zane and Jager; as well as her many friends. She asked to be cremated without services. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hospice of Havasu.
