Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Paul Johnson, Sr. (April 25, 1936 - October 3, 2013) Paul Johnson Sr., 77, of Black Mesa, Arizona went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2013 in Flagstaff, Arizona. He was born April 25, 1936 in Cactus Valley, Arizona to Shoey Johnson and Mary Haskan Bitsi. Paul was Pastor of Black Mesa Bible Church for 53 years. He retired from Peabody Western Coal Company in 1995. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and ride horses. Paul loved the word of God, studying his bible and sharing it with others, any chance he could. He loved being surrounded by his children and grandchildren, their laughter was music to his ears. Paul was the perfect example to his family and friends the kind of husband, father, grandfather, and man we should all strive to be. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 53 years, Thelma Crank Johnson. Children Pauletta (Keith) Russell, Ernest Johnson, Grace Johnson (Mike Yazzie), Paul Johnson Jr. (Charlotte), Thelma (Ron) Lane, Paulinda Farley, Paulesa (Mike) John. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Son Spencer Johnson went to be with the Lord October 16, 2004. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be 10:00 DST, Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Black Mesa Bible Church. Burial will follow in the family plot at White Grass. Family is thankful for the sympathy and condolences that have been shared at this difficult time. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but into all them also that love His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
