Gerhard W. Schreiber passed away on Sept. 23, 2013, at home, his wife at his side.
He was born in Germany on July 23, 1927, to the late Ernest and Anna Schreiber. G.W. emigrated from Germany in 1952, traveled from New York to Georgia and then to Santa Cruz, Calif.
He was a self-employed businessman, owner of a TV and electronic service business. He became interested in flying, buying his first airplane in 1964 and later a helicopter.
In 1994, he moved to Prescott with his wife, Marjut. G.W. enjoyed spending time in his shop doing metal work, electronics and building his helicopter. He also enjoyed playing guitar. He was an active member of the military pilots' group and participated in the monthly meetings for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Marjut; daughter Virginia; sons Max and Mathew; son-in-law Richard; daughters-in-law Stephanie and Jerelyn; granddaughter Kelly and her husband Ken; great-grandson Nathan; stepdaughter Anne and her family in Finland; niece Sabine; nephew Timo; and cousin Fred Burmeister and their families in Germany.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, family and friends.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at the Heritage Memory Mortuary's Fireside Room, 131 Grove Ave., in Prescott.
