Frank A. Smith, 79, was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Meadville, Pa., and passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in Kingman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Anna Smith, and his brother, Leo Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Anita M. Smith; brothers, Don Smith, David Smith (Anna), Lyle Smith (Diane); and sister, Nancy Campbell; children, Edward Smith, Frank Smith II (Jennifer), Michael Smith (Peggy), Debbie Trujillo (Gene), Vanita Smith, Dan Smith (Darla) and Shirley Pilkington. Frank was also blessed with 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring in 1970 in Aurora, Colo.
While serving in the Army, he was awarded the Bronze Star, five Good Conduct Medals, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After working for the city of Aurora Water Department for six years, Frank and his family moved to Dolan Springs in December of 1977. He managed the Mt. Tipton Water Company for 15 years. He then worked for the Flamingo Hilton in Laughlin, Nev., for three years and Boyd Knives in Dolan Springs for eight years before finally retiring.
Frank was a hard-working member and officer in both the Aurora Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Dolan Springs VFW. He was also an avid reader.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the VFW in Dolan Springs.
