The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/08/2013 Herman K. Mineer, 81, of St. Johns died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Herman lived a full life, serving as a drill sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, owned and operated Mineer Construction and Mineer Hardware, and served as justice of the peace in St. Johns for 36 years. Herman was a member of the St. Johns Rodeo Association, the Navopache Electric Co-op Board and the Arizona State Racing Commission, as well as serving in many positions in the LDS church. Herman had many hobbies, including gardening and owning race horses. Many people will remember him for providing fresh garden vegetables for purchase in town, but his true joy came from following his horses on the race circuit. He was a devoted and loving husband and father and was preceded in death by his dear wife, Myrna; daughter Tami Peters; and grandson Shea Gibson. He is survived by his daughters: Michelle Mineer of St. Johns, Kathi Mineer of Virginia, Vicki Ryan of Mesa, Misty Winsor of St. Johns; and son Michael Mineer of St. Johns. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center in St. Johns. A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Burnham Mortuary in St. Johns. The family viewing will be held at 9 p.m. the morning of the funeral and burial will follow immediately at the St. Johns Cemetery. Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled arrangements.
