The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/08/2013 Raymond Joseph Wojcik, 96, died Sept. 5, 2013, at his daughter’s home in New Boston, Mich. For the past six years, he would make the 3,960-mile round trip drive (by van) to visit her. He was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Detroit, Mich. He married his dancing and singing partner, Genevieve Karcz, May 9, 1942. She preceded him in death Sept. 24, 2006. Raymond attended Henry Ford Trade School and was an automotive engineer until full retirement from North Miami Tool and Die in the late ‘70s. He was a cowboy at heart; he rode and owned horses for over two decades. Raymond considered himself a rambling man, traveling with his wife Gene through most of the 48 states. They lived in Alamo, Texas, for 10 years before settling in Payson in the early ‘90s. After his wife’s passing, he moved to Show Low and took up residence in Country Lane RV Park in September 2007. Raymond was a member of both the Elks Lodge and Moose International, where he would attend dances and sing karaoke. His passions were singing and dancing and he loved entertaining friends and family. He is survived by his four children; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Genevieve, he was preceded in death by his only sibling, Irene, and beloved daughter Katherine. Raymond’s family would like to say “thank you” to his friends in the Show Low community for looking out for him these past few years. Making sure he made it to dances, karaoke and the hospital, just to name a few. Please celebrate and have a toast to his long enduring life. As Dad would say, “You made my day,” and, “Thanks for the memories.”
