I. A. Rutledge died at his residence, south of town, at midnight last night. The immediate cause of death is said to have been to have been diphtheria.
Deceased, with five other members of his family, has been sick with Mountain fever, the oldest daughter dying with it.
In his case the disease resulted in sore throat, causing his death. The other six members of the family are now improving with good prospects of recovery.
Deceased was a native of Alabama, aged 44 years, and was an industrious and hard-working man.
He leaves a wife and nine children to mourn his loss. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 4 o'clock, from the family residence.
Interment will be in the city cemetery.
