Ervin Royce Hartman, 84, of Rimrock, Ariz., passed away on Sept. 21, 2013.
His Life Celebration will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Denny's Restaurant, 1630 W. Highway 260, Camp Verde, Ariz.
Ervin was born in McPherson, Kan., on June 5, 1929. He was a father of three, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a brother and an uncle. He was known for his friendly manner, sense of humor and quick wit. He enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family and watching baseball.
Ervin was an entrepreneur and developed several businesses in California and Arizona.
He began in Pumpkin Patch, Calif., where he opened his first grocery store. Then he opened, developed and sold Michael's Drive-In Restaurant in Bakersfield, Calif., and again in Escondido, Calif. He moved to Arizona where he opened Michael's Soup and Sandwich Shop and then Hoagie Man Sandwiches in Prescott and surrounding areas.
Ervin enjoyed the challenge of building a business from the ground up. He also enjoyed getting to know his customers, employees and suppliers. After working as a driver for Maricopa County while living in Sun City, he retired and moved to Camp Verde.
Ervin will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends.
