Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow, Winslow, Arizona Mary A. Howard October 03, 1941 - October 09, 2013 Mary went to be with the Lord on October 09, 2013 peacefully. Mary was born in Tolani Lake, Arizona on October 03, 1941 and was raised primarily by her older sister Eva Billy. When she was about 4 years old, she would follow her sister Eva to work. Waiting patiently on the doorstep daily for her older sister. She was placed in school there, that probably was the beginning of head start on the Navajo reservation. She spoke of going to school at Tolani Lake, Intermountain school, Brigham City, Utah, later she finished high school, and took training in nursing. Mary was a homemaker, her eight children kept her busy and did a good job at raising them. She loved beading and working with silver and making jewelry. She enjoyed traveling, selling her arts and crafts to California. Where ever she went she got to know and made new friends. She especially enjoyed going to church and revivals all over the Navajo Reservation, and throughout the surrounding states. Mary had a beautiful, kind and generous spirit. She was always willing to help and give to anyone in need. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and an amazing grandmother, and also a trusting friend. She will be missed dearly. Her last words were " I AM GOING TO HEAVEN". She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Tollie Wilson, sister Mary Jane Goodman, brothers Kenneth Wilson Sr. and Alvin Wilson. Her daughter Laura Abeita, grandson Tully Y. Monroe, granddaughter Lucinda Sales and great grandson Vincent H. Sales. She is survive by husband Donald Howard, Sr.; daughters, Lavena Abeita, Berlinda Wilson, Bernita Begay, Sophina Begay, Alphina Williams, Donna Rualo, and son Donald Howard Jr.; sisters, Eva Billy and Eleanor Kelly; brothers, Roy Wilson and Robert Wilson. Nineteen grandchildren, with seventeen great-grand children. She helped raised her grandchildren, Lori Monroe, Donavon Abeita and April M. Sales and a young man who came into our lives, Joey Ward. Funeral Service Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM First Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Desert View Cemetery
