Ruth Mary (Quiter) Foss, 78, was led by angels to heaven, Oct. 15, 2013 at Casa Grande Assisted Living, Lake Havasu City after a hard battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She died peacefully with family nearby. She was born April 21, 1935 on the family farm in Albion, Neb. to Evelyn and Anthony (Tony) Quiter.
Ruth attended and graduated from Albion High School in 1953, thereafter teaching country school in a one-room schoolhouse for one year; before studying nursing at Saint Catherine’s College in Omaha, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1958. Ruth’s first job was with the Red Cross and truly enjoyed traveling with her friends on the Blood Mobile.
Ruth married the love of her life Paul Foss in 1959. Settling in Omaha, Ruth went to work for the next 30 years at Bergan Mercy Hospital, spending the majority of her career in pediatrics. Ruth was an avid reader, often reading several books at the same time. She was a skilled seamstress, a skill she learned from her mother. Loving camping and the water, many weekends were spent with the family waterskiing and enjoying the outdoors; first with a trailer fondly called the Fossienda and later at a home on the Missouri River in northern Nebraska. She also loved to play bridge and bingo. She leaves behind many friends from all over the country. She was a member of the Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul; sons, Mark (Chickie) Foss, Lake Havasu City; Tim (Lisa) Foss, Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Theresa Roberts, Omaha, Neb.; sisters, Helen and Pat from California; grandchildren, Jill, Paul, Emily, Ryan, Chris and great-grandchild Grayson. Preceeded in death by her parents; brother, Bob; sister, Joan and son-in-law, Barney Roberts.
Ruth will truly be truly missed by all who knew her, she is our angel now.
