Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow, Winslow, Arizona Mable Morris Begay October 02, 1931 - October 15, 2013 Mable Morris Begay completed her life journey Tuesday morning, October 15, 2013, in Flagstaff, Arizona. Mable was born October 2, 1931 in Indian Wells, Arizona to Adilthdoney and Ahenibah Begay, she was of the Totsohnii clan, born for the Tlaaschii clan, maternal grandparents Tsenijikini and paternal grandparents were Todichiinii . She received education in Leupp and Tuba City, leaving school at 15 years old to help care for activities at home and caring for her grandmother Yilhabah Morris Taylor. In 1950, she married Richard Begay and together they became parents of six children. Later she married Oscar Lee Smith and had three children. She was a homemaker, was employed in Holbrook and Painted Desert restaurants and was a right hand to her Father until his death in 1997. She lived in the Indian Wells area until her death She is survived by eight children; Jean Marie (Jesse) Clark, DaleAnn (Tillman) John, Lydia (Dr. Gregory) Gardner, Richard Begay, Jr., Mazie (Gary) Johnson, Ouida (Jason) Taylor, Oliver (Verna) Smith and Loren (Kim) Smith plus 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is survived by five sisters, two brothers and uncle Carlos T. Morris. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:00am (MST) at the LDS Church in Indian Wells, Arizona, with interment to follow at family plot in Indian Wells.
