The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Saturday, October 19, 2013 Lois Friesner Williams turned 75 on 10/9 and died on 10/13 of renal failure and complications of leukemia. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1957, second in her class. She was well liked, a good student, and an accomplished musician. She has a music B.A. from the University of California, Riverside, an M.A. in English from Kansas State University, and a law degree from the Ohio State University Law School. Lois worked in the Washington, D.C., area as a lawyer for over 30 years, arguing before the Supreme Court twice. Lois had lived in San Francisco for the last 3 years. She is survived by her son, Patrick (and Meredith) Swillinger, and siblings Kay (and Stan) Muther, Wayne (and Shirley) Friesner, Phyllis Newton, Doris Borchert, and Jane Goddard and her husband Steve Burris, as well as a niece and 3 nephews and 4 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
