Services will be 2 p.m. Nov. 5, 2013, at High Gate, third floor, 1600 Petroglyph Pointe Drive, Prescott, Ariz. Arrangements by Hampton Funeral Home. ~~~~~~~~ The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, November 03, 2013 Lawrence Green, age 89, passed away on Oct. 23, 2013, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born in 1924 in Kansas City, Kan. Larry attended a Catholic high school and then as a young man worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. He joined the U.S. Navy, Pacific Fleet in 1943 as a radioman on five different ships. He was honorably discharged in 1947. In 1948, he became a federal fire fighter in Southern California. He married Fonda K. Green and fathered two children in 1949 and 1951. In 1952, he began a career on a Southern California fire department in Huntington Park, Calif. and later retired from LA County Fire after 25 years of service. He also was a real estate broker on the side. Larry loved his wife, children and extended family. He also loved golf, yard sales and a hot cup of coffee. He was a quiet and generous man. He attended American Lutheran Church until his later years and was honest to a fault - his word meant something. Larry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Fonda; his son Randy; daughter Kathleen; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of Larry's Life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at High Gate (3rd floor), 1600 Petroglyph Pointe Drive in Prescott. Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
