Lloyd “Jack” Landis is survived by his two children, Andrew Landis, of Lake Havasu City, and Stacy Landis, of Chicago, which is where Jack was born and raised.
Jack had a deep love of baseball, which led him to an unfortunately short career, due to a knee injury, with the Memphis Redbirds, St. Louis’ AAA team.
Jack then went to North Western University where he graduated with a degree in journalism.
After graduating, Jack went into sales, having become a new father to daughter Stacey, in which he worked until retirement.
Jack moved to Lake Havasu City 27 years ago where many of you may have bought furniture from him over the years.
Jack also loved old movies, jazz, blues, books, acting with the Drury Lane Theater for eight years, gambling and dancing. Many of you ladies who went line dancing in the 1990s probably danced with Jack. He wasn’t much on country music, but he got right in line when he saw a lot of ladies dancing alone.
Well, Jack, I know you got into Heaven. I can hear St. Pete telling you, “Jack, you’re sort of marginal so we’re going to have to take a vote.” And you responding, “Tell you what Pete, one hand, five card draw, guts to open, nothing wild and if I lose, double or nothing.”
Jack, you will be missed by many, especially me who was honored to be your friend.
There will be a memorial at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2717 Rainbow, #102, just past the high school. Please feel free to join us to celebrate Jack’s life.
