Carmen was preceded in death by her husband Lucas V. Rodriguez (1999), son Raul Rodriguez (1998), and daughter Eloisa Renteria (2005).
She is survived by her children, Aurora (Benny) Rodriguez of Douglas, Ariz., Carlos (Blasita) Rodriguez of Prescott, and Mary (Robert) Islas of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; son-in-law Julian Renteria of Prescott Valley; sisters Virginia (Jose) Cano of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tila Acuña of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren Nino, Roberto, Fredo, Anna Maria, Ernesto, Benny, Vicente, Carmen, Bobby, Christina, Angelica, Veronica, Ruben and Francisco; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Carmen met her husband of 60 years, Lucas, in Duncan, Ariz., and it was love at first sight. They were married in 1938, and in February of 1965, they relocated to Prescott and made it their home. Carmen was a hard-working mother and wife, having worked various jobs in Prescott until she became a caretaker for Lucas. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors well into her 90s.
She especially enjoyed the many family gatherings at her home, where she was always ready to cook for everyone and anyone. People were always welcome in her home, where she spent her time watching Diamondbacks baseball and countless Sun Devil football games. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by all.
Memorial services are scheduled for noon Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott.
