The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Tuesday, October 29, 2013 Agnes Oliver Kascmer Franz moved to Prescott in 1987 from Pennsylvania with dog and cat companions. She was born Dec. 17, 1924 in E. Stroudsburg, Pa., the only daughter of George and Esther Oliver. Agnes is survived by her son Joseph Jesse Kascmer and his wife Eriko, living in Japan. Sombra, her dog buddy, had been an excellent walking partner for years. Agnes was a SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) counselor for 10 years and a member of the Professional Writers of Prescott. She also volunteered in several political and community efforts, including Noah, in the last several years. Her professional life, before coming to Prescott, was primarily in publishing and advertising. She retired from Rodale Press in that capacity and edited and published a business-to-business newsletter, Classified Communication. Agnes authored Historic Prescott, Smirk Vol. 1 and Smirk Vol. 2 and had just completed e-publishing on Oct. 24, 2013, her last book What's So &%#@ Funny?, a non-fiction book defining humor and how it develops. http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/369662. A Gathering of Friends in Celebration of Agnes' life will from 2 to 4 p.m. with sharing of memories at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home on the corner of Carleton and Cortez streets in Prescott, Ariz.
