MAXWELL, Anne F. *

Miles Mortuary, Miami, Arizona Anne F. Maxwell was born November 3, 1910, in Silverton, Colorado, and passed away on October 19, 2013, in Tucson, Arizona, just short of her 103rd birthday. She lived 100 years in Arizona. Her family came to the Miami-Globe area in 1913. She recently lived in Tucson. In 1924, at age 14, Anne drove her widowed mom from Arizona to visit family in California in a Model T Ford. At age 16, she drove her mom to Washington State in their new Model A, and on the way back, with her 80 year-old grandfather along, the car died. Anne got a new timer and put it in, and away they went. Her grandfather thought she was a wonder girl and bragged about what she had done to anyone who would listen! Anne met her husband, Edward, in high school. He was the referee for student games, and any time Anne fell, he helped her up. Anne says, “I guess he got used to picking me up because he did it for all of our 69 years of marriage!” Anne was actively involved in Eastern Star (Worthy Matron twice), Presbyterian Church, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Rainbow Girls, and many school activities, including 30 years in the P.T.A. She belonged to several bridge clubs and bowling leagues. She had two serious illnesses that almost finished her life, but with good doctor’s care and the Lord’s intervention, she pulled through. Anne is survived by her daughter, Roxanne, two of her three sons, Edward (Ruby) and Bruce, three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Miami Presbyterian Church, Community Food Bank, or TMC Hospice.
