Bertha Paglin Ferman passed away unexpectedly in Denver, Colorado on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Birdie was born in New Orleans in August 14, 1922. She was the daughter of Jules and Psuline Paglin of New Orleans.
She attended Isadore Newman School and graduated from Sophie Newcomb College. She was a devoted and loving wife to Professor Irving Ferman from 1947-1997 and incredible mother to son, James Paglin Ferman, and daughter, Susan Paglin Ferman Baldwin. Bertha especially treasured and loved being "Grandmother Burfa" to Catherine Illene Glicksman. She loved tennis, the arts, her family and friends. During the time she was raising her children, she was a school teacher and was a successful Realtor in Washington D.C. where she spent close to 40 years of her life. During the summers, she spent time residing at the family vacation home in Sullivan Harbor, Maine where she enjoyed her free time painting and exploring the coastline. She was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women in New Orleans.
She is survived by daughter Susan Baldwin and granddaughter Catherine, who resides in Denver, Colorado and son, James who resides in Wickenburg, Arizona.
Graveside Services will take place at Hebrew Rest Mausoleum (Frenchman at Pelopidas) on Sunday, February 17, 2013, with Rabbi Edward Paul Cohen, officiating at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to your charity of choice.
