George D. Daves, 80, of Mesa and a native Arizonan, died Oct. 20, 2013, in Mesa of Alzheimer’s and strokes.
He was born March 19, 1933, in Claypool. George served his country for two years in the military, attended junior college in Blythe, Calif., ASU and NAU, and taught social studies at Snowflake Junior High for 26 years. He also worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Heber and Pinetop, and four years at BLM in Winnemucca, Nev.
He is survived by his sisters: Betty Joy and Joyce Brenton; wife Janell Daves; daughers: Sharon, Barb, Joele Bucko (Matt), Amanda Hoegenes (Greg); sons: Richard Webb (Liesl), Brandon Webb, Jason Webb (Stacey), Kristopher (Mikel); 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and many beloved in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Daves, and mother Mary Ellen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the LDS church, 2265 Hawes Road (cross streets Baseline and Hawes) in Mesa.
