STOKES, Albert Ray (PeeWee)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 11/01/2013 Albert Ray Stokes, known to everyone as “PeeWee,” was born June 20, 1934, in O’Donnell, Texas. He loved the land, whether farming it or moving it. He retired after 40 years in construction and returned to the family farm to take care of his mother in 1999. PeeWee continued The Stokes Farm operation until 2013. Keeping family ties were important to him; being instrumental in organizing and attending the family reunion for the last 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Simpson; six children, 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter. Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Springerville Ward, Saturday, Nov. 2. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. Interment follows the luncheon at the family plot.
