The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, May 03, 2005 Gladys Elizabeth Dustin, age 86, died peacefully on April 29, 2005, in Prescott. She was born in northern New Mexico and spent her childhood in Oatman, Ariz. Her father, William Hittson, was a prospector and her mother, Bertie Campbell, ran the grocery store in Oatman. Gladys attended high school in Kingman with her younger brother, Bill, and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She was also the champion girl's tennis player for Mohave County. She attended Northern Arizona University and University of Arizona, where she studied home economics. Gladys was a master bridge player. She enjoyed playing the guitar and was an adventurous traveler, hiking the Grand Canyon several times and even rafting it at 70 years of age. She enjoyed traveling. Gladys loved to read, cook, garden and sew. She also enjoyed going to yard sales and collecting antiques. She will be remembered for her love of music and flowers, especially roses. She was a kind woman with a great sense of humor and a hearty laugh. She loved her family dearly. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Susan Fortner and Diane Williams (Arden); sons, Robert N. Fortner, Jr., William B. Fortner (Hope) and Michael Fortner; grandchildren, Ellora Bracy, Diane Bryz-Gornia, Crystal Walker, Glen Williams, Mike Williams, Robert Fortner III, Robyn Campbell, Gladys Ripley, Billy Fortner, and Loren Fortner. Grandson Travis Williams preceded Gladys in death. Gladys is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and her dear friend, Jean Krietemeyer. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 10 a.m., at Oddfellows Cemetery. [s/b Mountain View Cemetery] (Information provided by survivors.)
