Arizona Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Monday, October 5, 1864, page 3 Masonic Funeral - On the 27th uit, Mr. Hopkins, a miner, lately from La Paz, died at the Fort Whipple hospital, of typhoid fever. He was buried on the following day in the Prescott cemetery with Masonic honors. We were surprised to see so many Masons in this new country. Among those who attended the body to the grave were Governor Goodwin, Captain Anderson, and Lieutenants Barr and Curtis, of Fort Whipple. General W. Claude Jones, Speaker of the House, Judge Berry, RepresentativeApepel. Col. Woolsey, William R. Murray, Esq., and Judge Brooks. The ceremonies were in the usual impressive and beautiful manner. We learn that a Masonic Lodge will soon be organized in this place. Transcriber's note: Mr. Hopkins first name has not been found nor has his exact place of burial in the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Az.
