Bertha B. Christian passed away early Saturday morning, August 26, 2006, at her daughter's home in Tempe, AZ. Bertha was born in Davis County, Missouri, to W.A. Burke and Mary Lydia Burris on January 13, 1907. She was 99 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Wright Christian, daughter Patricia Elizabeth Melvin Wells, son John Edward Christian, granddaughter Patsy Smith, great-grandson William Everett Stratford (Billy) and great-great- granddaughter Christina Anne Stratford. Survivors include daughter Louella M. Logue, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandson. Bertha lived in the Tempe area since 1942 and was a member of the Silver Star Rebekah Lodge No. 8 of Tempe and the Knights of Pythias Pythian Sisters, Butte Temple 15 for over 50 years, and at one time served as Noble Grand and Grand Chief. Visitation with services was at Carr Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ. Published in The Arizona Republic on 9/1/2006.
