John William Heck, DDS, Capt. US PHS, retired, born February 10, 1923, entered the Church Triumphant April 19, 2004.
Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he devoted his life to his family and service in the United States Public Health Service and Indian Health Service where he held the naval rank of Captain. Oral surgeon and educator, contributing author for many text books and mentor of numerous interns, Dr. Heck was honored to discover a disease which was named after him. An avid golfer, bowler, traveler, artist, sports fan, raconteur, and lover of history, Jack enjoyed life to the fullest.
Together with his devoted wife Doris, he was at the heart of a loving and growing family. A man of honor, dignity, and humor, he lived a life of Christian service.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Doris; a sister, Dorothy; his two daughters, Dorothy and Donna, and their families.
We will miss his smile, his jokes, and tenor O Holy Night at Christmas.
