MARTINEAU, Anice

(Maiden Name: Busby)

Silver Creek Mortuary, Taylor, Arizona Anice O'Neil Martineau (November 9, 1938 - November 10, 2013) Anice O’Neil Martineau peacefully passed away surrounded by her family in Mesa, Az. on Nov. 10, 2013, the day after her 75th birthday, having lost her short but hard fought battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed. Born Nov. 9, 1938 in Eden, Az. to Alfred Angus Busby and Florence Vilate Echols, she lived the majority of her life in Az., attending grade school at Kennelworth Elementary in Coolidge and graduating from Florence High School. She went on to attend Eastern Az. College, receiving an Associate of Arts degree in 1958. It was there that she met and married John (JT) Godfrey (deceased) and together they had six children: Terry (LaRee) Godfrey of Taylor, Dave (Karen) Godfrey of Taylor, Don (Lana) Godfrey of Taylor, Cindy (deceased) (Kirk) Brimhall of Snowflake, Penny (Shane) Brimhall of Snowflake, and Robert Godfrey of Flagstaff. This marriage dissolved in 1973. It was at a New Years Eve party in 1975 that she was introduced to the handsome divorcee, Duane Martineau, and in May of 1976 (five months later), they were married. The blending of families was a challenge (they both had lots of children), but they endured and made it work. Together they had one son Michael (Becky) Martineau. She was a lifelong, devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in various leadership callings, and had a firm and unshakable testimony of the Savior and His eternal plan of happiness. She served a mission to the Dominican Republic with her husband Duane and she was a Temple worker in the Snowflake Temple until her illness no longer allowed her to serve. Loved by all, hers was a life of service to family, friends and all she came in contact with. She lived a full and busy life, gardening, canning, and teaching others. She is survived by her husband Duane, her father, Angus Busby of Snowflake, siblings Janice Stewart of Winslow, Joyce Shaw of Coolidge, Arlean Myers of Phoenix, Grace Anderson of Flagstaff, Jack Busby of Coolidge, Colleen Hatch of Taylor and Jay Dee Busby of Flagstaff, numerous children, 81 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren. She is now reunited with her mother, Florence, her brother, George, her daughter Cindy Brimhall, and grandson, Landon Mark Brimhall (son of Cindy and Kirk), and brother-in-law, Olin Stewart. A viewing is to be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Snowflake, with a viewing at 9 a.m. in the Relief Society room.
