The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 11/15/2013 Darlene Atencio, 44, resident of St. Johns, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, in a tragic motorcycle accident in Tempe with her husband Andy (“Chili”/“Opie”) Chilimidos. She was born Nov. 10, 1968, in Flagstaff, the daughter of Ray and Mary Atencio. Darlene was known by everyone as “Chatta.” She is survived by her daughters, Adrianna Atencio of Texas and Jazmyn Atencio of St. Johns; mother Mary Atencio of St. Johns; and sister Rae Lynn Atencio of St. Johns. Chatta was preceded in death by her father, Ray Atencio, and her grandparents. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of St. Johns. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the church. Interment will follow the funeral Mass at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery. Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled arrangements.
