KINCAID, Clyde

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, November 15, 2013 Clyde Kincaid Prescott Valley was stunned and saddened by the unexpected death of Clyde Kincaid on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013. If he could have chosen a day to die, he would have chosen Veteran's Day. He loved veterans and was a tireless worker on their behalf. He was a proud veteran, having served five years in the Navy and 15 years in the Air Force. He was honorably discharged from Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico on April 7, 1968. He was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Gresham, Ore., coming to Arizona in the late 1970s. He lived in Show Low and married Grace and helped raise her five children. They moved to Phoenix and met John and Roseann Poellot. They became good friends. John died first and then Grace, and, while consoling each other, Clyde and Roseann grew close. Clyde was welcomed warmly into their family by Claudette, Jacqueline and Suzette. He loved being in the VFW and had belonged to Post 10227 for 18 years. He worked tirelessly to get this post built and was often on the radio and television asking for donations. He was in on the ground floor when several members went to the Fain Signature Group after being offered a piece of land on which to build the post. Clyde and Chuck Abraham went to look at the three pieces of land offered. The last piece of land they looked at was the acre just beneath the Moose Lodge above Fain Lake. They chose that site but Clyde wanted two acres, so the Fain Signature Group donated two acres on which to build the post. He was on the original building committee and was the PR man for the post. Clyde had been the Officer of the Day, Sgt. of Arms and Senior Vice of Post 10227. He had been Junior Vice and was now Senior Vice of District 2. He was active in our poppy drive and bingo at the V.A. He wanted our veterans to have a fun evening and good refreshments. He got Safeway to donate a large sheet cake with other food and soft drinks. Post 10227 sponsored bingo night five months of the year. Clyde's last public appearance was last week at the Liberty Traditional School's Musical Salute to Veterans. He spoke and received a standing ovation. He loved Trinity Lutheran Church and Pastor Tim. He was a greeter at the second service and also was a deacon. All of his family and friends have lost a very special person, and the veterans have lost their #1 booster. Memorial services with full Military Honors will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3950 N. Valorie Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a generous donation to Post 10227, Prescott Valley Building Fund. Sunrise Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
