STEPHENS, Eleanor

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, November 15, 2013 Eleanor Boetticher Stephens died on Nov. 2, 2013. She was born on Sept. 25, 1915, in Melrose, Mont., to Otto and Myrtle Bateman Boetticher. She moved to Dillon, Mont., when she married Burl Stephens in the early 1940s. Eleanor had attended a business college in Butte, Mont., and held several office jobs in Dillon at a car dealership and State Bank, and was an unofficial employee of Stephens Greenhouse through the years that she and Burl owned it. She was a wonderful cook, and canned many tasty items, including the fish that Burl caught and smoked and sauerkraut that she made from scratch. Eight years ago she made the decision to move to Prescott, Ariz., where she has continued to live independently at Samaritan Tower, and to play bridge at the adult center, which was her favorite pastime. When she wasn't at the bridge table, she was making quilts and doing fine embroidery, especially Hardanger, a Scandinavian cutwork embroidery. Most of her favorite people have been given some of her handiwork. She is the last of her siblings, and she is survived by many nieces and nephews.
