PHELPS, Lucy

Lucy Forsyth Phelps, 97, of Mesa, AZ passed away Monday February 18, 2008 in Mesa, AZ. She was born November 16, 1910 in Magrath Alberta, Canada to Joseph Frank Forsyth and Rachel Ackroyd. She was the oldest of nine children. After attending LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah she came to Mesa and met her husband, Homer Grant Phelps and was married in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1936. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many jobs. She especially enjoyed drama, genealogy, family history, and entertaining. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Grant Phelps; and daughter, Ruth Ann (Phelps) Winger. She is survived by daughter, Lucienna De Priest (Phelps); sons: Brent Anthony Phelps (Trudy) and Richard F. Phelps (Jean); 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; and brothers: Howard Forsyth of Lethbridge Alberta, Gordon Forsyth of Santa Cruz, CA, and LeGrand Forsyth of Leeds, UT. A visitation will be held on Friday February 22, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald in Mesa. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at the City of Mesa Cemetery.
