FLAKE, Lester White


Lester White Flake, 90, formerly of Mesa, AZ, passed away March 2, 2004 in San Diego, CA. Lester was born July 8, 1913 in Snowflake, AZ to Osmer D. Flake and Ethel Ray Flake. He attended Phoenix Union High School and Phoenix Jr. College, worked as a Phoenix police officer and was drafted into the Army in WWII. He finished his tour of duty as a Lt. Col. He served 3 missions for the LDS Church: Southern States, Scotland & Ireland and North Phoenix Stake mission. During his life he authored 4 books now in the Mesa Public Library, Snowflake Library and B.Y.U. Library. He labored several years as an ordinance worker in the Mesa LDS Temple. He spent his remaining years in the beautiful hills of San Diego happily remarried to his first wife, Erene, living with his daughter Victoria Flake Wallace. Survived by his Wife, Erene, daughters Claudia Jo Flake Dreher, Jacqueline Flake Frazine and Denise Flake-Olson, and 2 grandchildren Max Demian Wallace and Jenna Jordan Dreher. Visitation at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ. Funeral service was at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Three Fountains Ward, 1836 N. Stapley Dr., Mesa, AZ. Burial in the Snowflake Cemetery. Published in the Arizona Republic from 3/6/2004 - 3/7/2004.
