WEZNIAK, Barbara Ann

Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley, Arizona Barbara Ann Wezniak January 20, 1930 - October 4, 2013 Barbara A. Wezniak was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts in 1930. She was brought up in Granby, Mass., graduating from South Hadley High School. She then trained at The Springfield (Mass.) Hospital School of Nursing and, upon passing the RN exams, worked in the emergency and out-patient departments. In 1952 she and George Wezniak were married and lived in Springfield where George worked in Public Accounting. In 1958 shortly after adopting their daughter Paula, Barbara and her family moved to New Bedford, Mass. This was the first of several moves as George changed jobs. In New Bedford, Barbara began the second of her careers - she took her first painting lesson. Throughout the remainder of her life, she enjoyed her painting and painting workshops and became very accomplished - she attained signature membership status in The New England Watercolor Society. Besides her painting, she became an accomplished cook and her second most favorite reading subject (after novels) was cookbooks. She managed to collect more than 500 - and each had bookmarks where she had used a recipe. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and often made trips with George's sister, Alice. For many years, Elder Hostel provided for interesting places to visit and meet people. She will be missed - and loved and remembered by many friends and relatives. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church on October 19, 2013 at 11:00 am, with prayer hour at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the charity of your choice.
