BADENOCH, Donald Stuart

Donald Stuart Badenoch, 60, passed away on December 30, 2005. The consummate peacemaker, Don will be remembered and honored for the strength and harmony he brought to his family and dear friends. His unwavering presence was always quick to remind those he loved to relish the value of each moment and never sweat the small stuff. Don embodied unconditional love throughout his marriage of 37 years to Patricia Guard Badenoch. He reveled in the outdoors and was often at his best while coaching his children or by an open flame, be it the barbeque or campfire. A proud grandfather, Don celebrated the birth of Ella Claire by becoming her foremost confidant and playmate. With a truly generous and selfless spirit, he was the first to put family and friends at ease and the first to effortlessly embrace a newcomer, be it person or pet. Raised in Bozeman, Montana, Don first came to Arizona for college. After graduating from Arizona State University, Don served his country honorably as an artillery field captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He returned to Scottsdale and became a sales representative for the Dictophone Corporation and then regional sales manager for Spectralink Corporation. He and Patty raised two children in their Scottsdale home and saw each of them through college in the state. Don went on to work for Southport Restoration as a site manager. Don is survived by his wife Patricia, son Skyler Guard Badenoch, daughter Jillian Claire Kersten, son-in-law Matt, granddaughter Ella Claire, mother Edith and nine brothers and sisters: Brian, Bonnie, Merrie, Jean, Doug, Geoff, Judy, Jim and Steve. Don also thought the world of the Guard family. Surviving members include Don's father in law, Bud Guard, and his wife, Jane Tomek Guard, as well as his sister in law, Suzanne Clair Guard and her husband Tuck Stephenson. His family filled his heart with pride and fused his life with love. They will continue to serve as his legacy. Services were held on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Desert Botanical Gardens 1201 N. Galvin Parkway, Phoenix. Published in The Arizona Republic from 1/1/2006 - 1/2/2006.
