HESTON,
Frank E.
Frank E. Heston, 89, of Sun City West, Arizona, left us on Thursday, December 22, 2005, following a 21-day battle with pneumonia.
Born in Tampa, Florida, and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, he attended the University of Florida and the University of Miami (Florida). He resided in several Florida cities, in Cincinnati, Ohio, in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, in Atlanta, Georgia, and in Rockville, Maryland, finally settling in Arizona. He often summered in Park City, Utah.
He served 42 years as a Staff Supervisor at AT&T Long Lines and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. His AT&T career was interrupted during World War II when he served in the Air Transport Command.
The focus of his life was most assuredly his family, including his late brother John, and lifelong friends, including the late John McClellan of Tallahassee, Florida.
His interests included astronomy, history, natural science, amateur radio (call sign W3DRR), sailing, math puzzles, ping-pong, badminton, Frisbees and kites. He was an avid RV enthusiast, progressing from Boy Scout expeditions to family excursions in a pop-up trailer to a towed trailer to a motorhome, and criss-crossed the country repeatedly. He greatly enjoyed penny and nickel video poker and was possibly one of the worst players ever.
Frank is survived by Grace, his wife of 61 years, also of Sun City West; and son, David, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. No services were held per his request. Burial was in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida.
