Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, Friday, November 29, 2013 Joseph E. Watkins, 77, passed away Tuesday morning November 20th 2013 at his home in Snowflake, AZ with his family at his side. He passed 13 years to the day of his Father Rodney G. Watkins 11-20-2000. He was born 3 August 1936 in Sayre PA, the son of Rodney Gleason and Freida Louise (Pond 2010). Preceded in death by this wife Marjorie Jane (Baker 2007), parents and Brother Rodney Arthur, nephews Tracy Vargeson, Baby Shedden, Stewart Worthen. Survived by siblings Harold Eugene (Tex), Maria Elena (Mena)(Vargeson, Reese), Iolani Lucretia (Loni)(Ruhmel). Also Survived by children Amelia, Timothy, Brian, Joseph C. and Mary Kathryn (Katie), 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and a very large extended family. Joe as he was known to co-workers, friends and family was a committed family man, worked all his life at various factories in the NY/PA Twin Tiers; all while farming in Millerton, PA. The family moved to in Flagstaff, AZ late 1970’s to pursue a different life from the hills of PA. There he worked for the AZ DOT. Upon retiring from the AZ DOT he relocated back PA until the passing of this wife of nearly 50 years. Again relocated to the Northwoods of Minocqua-Woodruff, WI area for a time and then returned to AZ to live with his son. His passion was hunting, fishing and carpentry and working the Watkins Glen Cart Races in the 1970’s with his Buddy’s. He was a very patient teacher. Dad could fix nearly anything not working or broken, one way or another. Cremation performed by Silver Creek Mortuary, Snowflake, AZ. Memorial services to be held later at the family convenience in Flagstaff AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local Hospice Organization or charity of your choice.
