L. Buckley Victim of Accident Yesterday at the Buckley home in this city, the four-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Buckley was very seriously wounded by the accidental discharge of a Colt's revolver. The bullet entered the lower part of the abdomen, passing through the body and came out a few inches to one side of and below the lower extremity of the backbone. The child had manner and is said to have been playing in the back yard when shot. It was plain to see that the muzzle of the pistol was close to the child's body when it went off, as the flesh was powder burned and a portion of the clothing was carried into the gaping wound made by the bullet which perforated the intestines in several places. The wounded boy was taken to the Mercy hospital, where one doctor, assisted by three others, cut the boy open, sewed up the perforated intestines and sewed the wound up again. The boy lost a good deal of blood and was very weak. His condition after the operation was more favorable than it was before the operation. M. L. Buckley, the boy's father, started for Phoenix yesterday morning. He was telegraphed to and will return to Prescott today. Later - The little boy died at 9 o'clock last evening. ------------------------------- Arizona Weekly Journal Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Wednesday, November, 20 1907, page 2.6 Impressive Funeral (From Friday's Daily) Yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the remains of Ralph Carl Buckley were laid to rest in the Citizen's cemetery.
