PHELPS, Melvin

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, December 01, 2013 Melvin Phelps, 89, passed away in his home in Prescott, Ariz., on Nov. 27, 2013. Melvin was a beloved family member, neighbor and friend. His always charming, generous and fun-loving personality will be remembered with knowing smiles. He was born in Dawson, N.M. (now a ghost town) to Melvin and Myrtle Phelps on April 4, 1924. He worked tirelessly as the head of custodial services for the entire Fresno, Calif., school district until his retirement. It was during that time that he met his lovely wife, Jane. The couple spent 20-plus years as Prescott residents, traveling the country and continents, entertaining, square dancing, golfing, and bringing joy and memories to all they met. Now, they both continue those journeys in Heaven. They will be missed. Melvin is survived by his granddaughter Aimee Marsh and niece Bonnie Dice. Services entrusted to Heritage Memory Mortuary, Prescott. For Melvin's online guestbook, please visit www.heritagemortuary.com. Information provided by survivors.
