Manuela Vazquez Hinojosa Torrez, 71, of Miami, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, in Peoria, Ariz. She was born to the late Jose and Manuela Vazquez Hinojosa on June 24, 1942, in Soyopa, Sonora, Mexico.
After high school Manuela attended cooking school, Escuela Innalambrica. After graduating from cooking school, she attended and graduated from the pastry school, Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
She married the late David Sifuentes Torrez on Dec. 7, 1968, at Blessed Sacrament Church and they lived together in Miami, Ariz.
Manuela was a wonderful homemaker to her husband and her four children. While her children were growing up she opened her heart and her home as a caregiver to several families in Miami/Globe.
Manuela was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church and she was very active with her bible study group, which met regularly.
Manuela is survived by four children who reside in Arizona: Mary (George) Pedraza of Peoria, Joe (Maria) Torrez of Gilbert, Gloria (Michael) Mathis of Cave Creek, and Angelica (Tony) Berastegui of Laveen; as well as seven grandchildren: Angelica, George Jr., Analisa, Grace, Joseph, Tony, and Giselle.
Manuela is also survived by four siblings: Josefina Vazquez, Francisco Vazquez, and Jesus Gamez, of Hermosillo; and Gloria Gamez of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.
Manuela will be remembered for her warm heart and her beautiful, contagious smile. She always gave life to every room she entered and everything bloomed when she was around. She was the most positive role model to her family and everything was always possible in her eyes.
Her children and her grandchildren were always on her mind and in her heart. She has enjoyed watching them grow and she has enjoyed watching them pay forward the love that she instilled in each one of them.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Blessed Sacrament Church of Miami.
Viewing/Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church.
Interment following services at Pinal Cemetery.
