TAYLOR, Helen Corene

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, December 08, 2013 Helen Corene Taylor was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Buck Creek, Iowa, to Allen Ross and Gertrude Hopson Nieman. Her dad was a schoolteacher who brought the family west to Arizona when she was about 12 years old. She attended Arizona State Teachers College (NAU) after graduating from high school and was there during her courtship with John Taylor. They married June 18, 1938, and soon after moved to Flagstaff, where they owned and operated a family grocery market. While in Flagstaff, their sons were born to them. In about 1948, the health of the youngest son required a move to a more favorable climate, and they settled in Prescott, where their daughter was born. Helen was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who had a passion for sharing the Good News of salvation and for missions work. She developed lasting and meaningful relationships within her family and community. She was a devoted member at First Baptist Church. She had been very active in the Gideon Auxiliary and always had a New Testament in her purse to share with others. She was a lifetime member of the PTA and a past state president. She loved to lead Bible studies and organize conventions and meetings. She is probably engaged in those endeavors even now, but on a much higher plane! Helen passed away Nov. 25, 2013, at the Margaret T. Morris Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her brother Raymond. She is survived by her sister Marjorie Rutherford; sons Charles Edwin Taylor Sr. and wife Diana of Skull Valley and John Thomas Taylor III (Tom) and wife Janet of Camp Verde; daughter Trudy Mae Kannenberg and husband Bernie of Chino Valley; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Prescott, Ariz. We encourage all ladies interested to wear chiffon scarves. Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Please visit www.hamptonfuneralhome.com to visit and sign Helen's guestbook. Information provided by survivors.
