Mildred (Millie) Frances Chandler
Born Dec. 12, 1928, Millie moved to heaven on Nov. 8, 2013, after nearly 85 wonderful years on this Earth. Millie was a longtime Prescott resident, moving to the then-small town in 1953. She was the second youngest of 15 children born to William and Maggie Kirkpatrick.
Millie was known by all who knew her as a woman full of life, attitude and opinion, laughter and generosity. She was always willing to be part of the fun, give what she had and go above and beyond for those she loved. She always welcomed friends and family with open arms.
The most important thing in Millie's life was her family. She is survived by one brother, Charlie; children Rita (Jim) Riley of Prescott Valley, Carol (Jim) Sullivan of Goodyear and Bill of Prescott Valley; four granddaughters; 11 great-grandkids; and four great- great-grandkids.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband Bill "Red" Chandler and son Charles.
Some of Millie's favorite things were watching men's fast-pitch softball at Ken Lindley field, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, being a member of the Moose Lodge and crocheting everything from clothes and blankets to scarves and tablecloths. Her favorite job was working nearly 20 years as a manager of JCPenney women's department when it was located in downtown Prescott.
Millie died gently in her sleep at home, with family present. The family celebrated her life and grieved her passing at her home. No memorial service is being planned at this time. Memorial donations can be made in Millie's name to Hospice Family Care, Prescott.
