SPURGEON, Steven Dale

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/10/2013 Steven Dale Spurgeon, 15, died Nov. 21, 2013, in Long Beach, Calif., just four days after his 15th birthday, miraculously living 14 years longer than doctors expected upon his birth due to a severe and unforeseen handicap. Steven was born Nov. 17, 1998, to Stephanie Dalea Spurgeon in Show Low. Although Steven came into this world with a handicap, his life still touched and blessed everyone he came in contact with. Steven lived the larger part of his short life on this earth right here in the White Mountains. Although Steven could not communicate verbally, many felt he entertained angels on a daily basis and was truly touched by them. Steven was preceded in death by his grandmother, Paula Spurgeon; great-grandfathers: Charles Spurgeon and Billy Moon and great-grandmother Anna Spurgeon. He is survived by his mother, Stephanie Spurgeon; brother Daniel Skinner; grandfather Steve Spurgeon; great-grandmother Mary Moon and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service in his honor will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at The Church, which meets at the Blue Ridge High School Auditorium in Lakeside.
