The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/13/2013 Wanda Louise Stokes, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, in San Tan Valley. She was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Springerville, the daughter of Clarence Houston Simpson and Bessie Belle Childress Simpson. Wanda was a homemaker, avid seamstress and quilter. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons: Alton Ray Stokes, Randy Dale Stokes, Daniel Keith Stokes; daughters: Carrie “Shelly” Machelle Whitlow, Christy Lennette Hill, Sheila Gayle Stokes; brother Deral Irvin Simpson; sister Alpha Cleo Tissaw; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
