ROBERTSON, Ronald D. (Ron)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/13/2013 Ronald D. Robertson, 77, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, in Show Low. He was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Mountain View, Wyo., to the late Andrew Young and Lillian (Beach) Robertson. He was born the seventh child following: Helen, Evert, Ella Mae, Lillian, William and Harold. Ron was the last surviving sibling. An outstanding violinist and popular all-star track star, he was elected vice president of the 1954 senior class of Ogden High School in Utah. Ron then went to Utah State University in Logan, where he played football for the Aggies. While there, he met and married Ann Charbonneau. Together they had six sons. Having served two years in the U.S. Navy, Ron developed an appreciation for veterans. He was a member of the local American Legion Post 76 and volunteered his time to many projects. Although Ron had many jobs, he enjoyed hauling livestock for L.W. Miller. He also enjoyed hauling the U.S. mail between Rock Springs, Wyo., and Denver, Colo., for eight years. Trail riding and hunting with his best friend, Bob, was a favorite pastime. He helped friends and relatives gather cattle and cooked for brandings. Many evenings were spent watching the PBR and National Finals Rodeo. He proudly received the 2012-2013 Outstanding Service Commendation Award from his Elks Lodge 2090 in Show Low. Ron is survived by all of his six sons: Steve (Nancy), Larry (Delia), John (Camille), Ron (Stefanie), Scott, Jeff; 23 grandchildren he claimed as his own, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lastly, he is survived by Lynn, with whom he shared 30 years of his wonderful life. He claimed her sons as his own: Tom (Monica), Michael (Carol), as well as their children: Skye, Reanna, Keoni and Roxanne. A special granddaughter, Carrie Lee, helped care for him during his final hours and has an enduring love for him. Funeral services for Ron will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Show Low Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1401 W. Deuce of Clubs. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Show Low Cemetery. Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel of Show Low handled arrangements.
